Today was the Jewish Festival of Purim. There is a great story behind the festival but the best bit about it is the chance to dress up and be a little sillier than is usually allowed.
Last week our city had a parade. The schools and the clubs put on displays and marched and danced in costume. It was a sight to behold. The schools and the youth clubs have been partying for weeks.
Today was the day to dress up and eat a celebratory meal with friends. I’m never quite sure what to do when it comes to dressing up in fancy dress. I’m just not very good at it. I do enjoy being silly though so it seemed like a great opportunity to go out dressed head to toe in purple., my favorite colour.
We spent the afternoon with friends eating and catching up.
On the way, we saw superheroes, fairytale characters, clowns, and queens. It was great to have a family day off!
I made veggie sushi and sushi salad for the occasion. What a treat. It a shame there is almost none left!
